The anti-aircraft gun tank Gepard (FlakPz Gepard) is an autonomous, highly mobile, all-weather combat-capable FlaK tank that was developed and produced in the 1970s. For a long time, it formed a cornerstone of the air defense of the army of the German army. The cheetah was designed to give the movable tank and tank grenadier troops of the German armed forces protection from low-flying aircraft and combat helicopters in the tactical framework of the battle of the connected weapons. The selection of armament also took into account the fight against heavily armored combat helicopters such as the Mil Mi-24 "Hind", whose armour effectively provided protection against bullets up to a calibre of 23 mm. When combating ground targets, such as tanks or wheeled vehicles, the capture and tracking was performed visually via one of the periscopes of commander or directional gunner. Due to the relatively large caliber of the cannons, which is above that of most infantry armours, it could easily destroy light-armored vehicles such as infantry armours, transport tanks or other anti-aircraft vehicles.
